Christi Blake, MHS, PA-C, MLS (ASCP)CM is a health system specialist, Office of Healthcare Inspections in the Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General in Washington, D.C. She utilizes her clinical and laboratory knowledge, project management and policy experiences to assist with conducting oversight, monitoring, and evaluation of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs(VA) hotline allegations involving patient quality and timely care concerns.
Ms. Blake is a national board-certified medical laboratory scientist, a national board-certified physician assistant (PA), and a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. She received dual Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Psychology from Virginia Tech, a graduate certificate in Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) from the Carilion School of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, in Roanoke, VA, a Master of Health Sciences and Physician Assistant Certificate from Duke University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program, in Durham, NC.
Ms. Blake is a member of ASCP and the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), where she serves on the National Health Priorities Clinical Resources Review Committee and is a Laboratory Medicine CME Grader.
Her clinical and administrative career is rooted in her laboratory medicine foundation. She grew up in a small town; her childhood love of solving puzzles and pioneering spirit influenced her career start as a generalist medical technologist, which she described as “CSI for the Living.” She later became a medical PA within mental health, an educator, executive leader, and served as a laboratory medicine subject matter expert at the VA and the National Institutes of Health.
She states, “The sky is not the limit. My laboratory medicine foundation has been a rocket launchpad for my leadership journey into realms never imagined, and I wish the same for others.”
