Elena Margaret Fenu, MD, FASCP
Elena M. Fenu, MD, FASCP, is completing a molecular genetic pathology fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University and preparing to take on a faculty position at Duke Hospital in North Carolina. She previously completed her hematopathology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and her pathology residency at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in North Carolina, where she served as chief resident. She is board-certified in hematopathology and anatomic and clinical pathology. She received her bachelor’s degree and medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Fenu is a member of the ASCP Resident Council where she advocates for resident education and supports the Pathology Ambassadors program, an initiative which aims to increase the visibility of pathology careers. Her academic interests include studying the mutational landscape of myeloid neoplasms, with a particular focus on TP53-mutated myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia.
