Fedaa Najdawi, MD, FASCP
Fedaa Najdawi, MD, FASCP, is pioneering precision pathology by embracing technology to enhance diagnostic accuracy and improve patient outcomes. As director of pathology at PathAI in Boston, MA, she oversees the development of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven digital pathology tools that are set to shape the future of pathology.
Dr. Najdawi trained in both pathology and surgery in Australia, starting her pathology journey at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. She also completed her residency in the U.S., followed by two fellowships in gastrointestinal, liver, and endocrine pathology at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She holds medical certifications in the United States, Australia, and Jordan.
A leading voice in integrating AI into pathology, Dr. Najdawi's contributions extend to precision medicine initiatives, such as the Precision Medicine Workgroup of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, and the USCAP Finance Committee. At PathAI, she worked on developing AI tools for standardizing histologic disease activity assessment in IBD clinical trials (AIM-HI UC) and biomarker discovery in IBD drug development (IBD-Explore). Her work is reflected in numerous peer-reviewed publications, such as Modern Pathology and Lab Investigation and through her editorial role in the Artificial Intelligence section of Archives of Pathology, as well as her presentations at national and international conferences.
Driven by a commitment to revolutionizing pathology through AI, Dr. Najdawi's research focuses on leveraging AI and digital pathology tools to enhance precision pathology. Her recent work includes innovative AI applications in IBD, celiac disease, tumor microenvironment, and fibrosis.
