Greg Charville, MD, PhD, FASCP, is an associate professor and surgical pathologist in the Department of Pathology at Stanford University where he serves as director of the Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology Service and associate director of the Gastrointestinal Pathology Service. Dr. Charville earned his MD and PhD in the Medical Scientist Training Program at Stanford, followed by residency in anatomic pathology and a fellowship in gastrointestinal and liver pathology, also at Stanford. He is board-certified in anatomic pathology, a fellow of ASCP, and a member of USCAP and the Arthur Purdy Stout Society. As a surgical pathologist, Dr. Charville particularly enjoys collaborating with colleagues from around the world to classify and study the most diagnostically challenging cases. He cherishes the privilege of practicing alongside residents and fellows, and he has received awards at Stanford recognizing his dedication to both teaching and mentoring. Dr. Charville’s clinical work serves as the inspiration for his laboratory-based investigation of the molecular underpinnings of human disease, focusing on genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of neoplasia and the translation of these mechanistic insights into the development of novel diagnostic biomarkers.
