Gunjan Hariani, PhD
Gunjan Hariani, PhD, is a senior bioinformaticist at Q2 Solutions, a leading global clinical trial services organization based in Durham, North Carolina. She specializes in the application of next generation sequencing technologies and has on-boarded more than 20 laboratory assays across a variety of platforms. Notably, Dr. Hariani developed the bioinformatics pipeline for the first comprehensive cancer sequencing assay used by Japanese medical providers to guide treatment plans of patients with advanced cancers where standard treatments had failed. In her current role, she leads big company initiatives like on-boarding new technologies such as the NovaSeq X and various ctDNA assays along with process standardization. Furthermore, she serves in a mentorship role by focusing on development of her team members and heading the Bioinformatics Internship Program. Dr. Hariani is a member of ASCP and a local sequencing group, The NextGen Sequencing Intellectual Exchange Group (NGS IEG). She is also a part of the Food and Drug Administration’s Sequencing Quality Control Phase 2 Consortium (SEQC2) where she has collaborated to create Bioinformatics reference standards and address the needs of validating low frequency somatic variants. Dr. Hariani holds a doctorate in Bioinformatics from North Carolina State University and a bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics from Michigan Technological University.
