Jorge E. Novo, MD, FASCP, AΩA


Jorge E. Novo, MD, FASCP, is an assistant professor of Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, he completed his medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (now known as McGovern Medical School at UTHealth), pathology residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, followed by two fellowships, in Breast Pathology at Northwestern University, and in Gynecological Pathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Novo's is dedicated to women's pathology and he provides expertise in both breast and gynecological diseases in his busy clinical practice. He is passionate about education and mentorship, and particularly enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. His commitment extends to leading initiatives in education at the graduate level, including innovations in resident surgical pathology cycles, digital didactics, and the full implementation of Entrustable Professional Activities in surgical pathology. Dr. Novo is passionate about global health and providing equity and access to subspecialized pathology expertise and training in Latin America and Africa. He participated in the first-ever Spanish Update course in gynecological pathology organized by the International Society of Gynecological Pathologists as well as numerous national-level meetings in Mexico and Argentina. When not working, Dr. Novo enjoys working out, tending to too many plants, painting, and traveling.
