Tanner Bartholow, MD, MS, FASCP
Tanner Bartholow, MD, MS, FASCP is an assistant professor of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he also completed medical school, and is board-certified in anatomic, clinical, and forensic pathology. He completed his pathology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and his forensic pathology fellowship at the Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner in Pittsburgh, PA. He received his bachelor's degree in biology from Juniata College in Pennsylvania. Dr. Bartholow is a member of ASCP and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. At his institution, Dr. Bartholow is the director of Adult Autopsy Services, providing autopsies for more than 15 hospitals, the medical director of the Humanity Gifts Registry, the head of the Decedent Affairs Committee, and the autopsy director for multiple research autopsy programs. Dr. Bartholow’s interests include expanding the scope of services provided by hospital autopsy providers and helping build the foundations for comprehensive post-mortem care as a new and unique subspecialty within the field of pathology, to benefit the families of decedents, clinical colleagues, communities, and institutions.
