Aisha Mohamed’s passion for global health was sparked at age ten, when her family relocated from the United States to Nairobi, Kenya, exposing her to stark disparities in access to medical care. Now a third-year pathology resident at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Dr. Mohamed received an ASCP Trainee Global Health Fellowship to complete a month-long rotation in Moshi, Tanzania.
While in Tanzania, Dr. Mohamed worked with Alex Mremi at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre on a prostate cancer screening research project. She also supported pathology education, reviewed clinical cases, and participated in virtual tumor boards through ASCP’s telepathology program.
